The Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2019 was held on 2 June 2019. General Studies Paper I carried the usual 100 questions across four sets (A, B, C, D), each worth 200 marks. Compared to the years around it, the 2019 paper leaned unusually hard into Indian Economy — from land reforms and Five-Year Plans to banking, external debt, and currency-crisis mechanics — which made up over a quarter of the entire paper and required more than surface-level familiarity with policy detail.

Indian Polity questions skewed towards judiciary, constitutional amendments, and lesser-known committees (Sarkaria Commission, Rajamannar Committee), while History and Art & Culture were comparatively lighter, though still detailed (Mughal court art, Bhakti-era saints, Harappan sites).
